Introduction of Maize missense effect prediction (MaizeMEP)
Maize Missense Effect Prediction is a specialized database for assessing the effect of missense mutations in Zea mays (Zm-B73-REFERENCE-GRAMENE-4.0) induced by ethyl methane sulfonate (EMS). It contains over 970,000 EMS-induced single-base substitutions causing amino acid changes, along with their corresponding protein mutation effect predictions. The database also provides binding-affinity predictions for each mutated residue with nine key ligand classes: DNA, RNA, peptide, protein, ATP, and metal ions (Zn²⁺, Ca²⁺, Mg²⁺, Mn²⁺). This helps assess how EMS-induced mutations may disrupt important molecular interactions.
